A new county commissioner for Girlguiding Dunbartonshire has been appointed.
Lynne Gibbons, who was formerly the chair of Catterburn, steps into the role following the tenure of outgoing commissioner Lorna Hamilton.
Lynne will lead and support volunteers across Dunbartonshire, helping to ensure girls continue to benefit from Guiding experiences that build confidence, skills and friendships.
Looking ahead
She is particularly passionate about supporting the next generation of leaders.
“We have so many amazing younger women already in leadership roles,” Lynne said. “I’m keen that we do everything we can to nurture and develop their skills and talents, making sure the future of Girlguiding Dunbartonshire is in safe hands.”
In her first year, Lynne plans to focus on listening and learning.
“My priority is to meet as many people as possible and really understand both the opportunities and challenges our volunteers face,” she explained.
Giving girls a space
Lynne also highlighted the importance of Girlguiding in today’s society.
“Girls need their own space to challenge themselves, build confidence and form lifelong friendships. Girlguiding offers that in a supportive, values-driven environment—and that’s more important than ever.”
Looking ahead, Lynne hopes to grow membership across the county and ensure volunteering remains a positive and rewarding experience for all.
She added: “I’m extremely honoured to have been nominated. I promise to work as hard as I can to be the county commissioner everyone deserves.”
