Girls from 1st Clydebank Rangers are celebrating a major achievement after being presented with the Commonwealth Award.

Piper Wilson, Abby Draper and Lucy Rankin were handed their certificates at a unit recent meeting by Girlguiding Dunbartonshire County Commissioner Lorna Hamilton.

The award recognises the girls’ hard work and commitment as they explored the history, values and global impact of the Commonwealth, alongside learning more about Girlguiding and how Guiding first began in Scotland.

As part of the challenge, the girls researched their chosen Commonwealth country and took part in a wide range of activities, including crafts, practical challenges and volunteering within their community.

Unit leader Carole Meakin praised the girls for their enthusiasm and commitment. She said: “The girls worked incredibly hard on their Commonwealth Award and threw themselves into every aspect of it.

“They really enjoyed learning about Girlguiding, the Commonwealth and how Guiding started in Scotland, and they’ve said themselves that they learned so much they wouldn’t have known otherwise.”
