Three dedicated volunteers from 3rd Vale of Leven Guides have celebrated a major milestone.
Lynne Bolton, Rachel Bolton and Sarah-Louise Dickson have all been awarded their Leadership qualification after months of hard work.
To achieve the qualification, the trio had to complete various modules and show they could run the Guide unit successfully.
Going Away With qualification
Lynne and Sarah also received their Going Away With qualifications during last week’s celebration. Rachel, who is also a leader at 1st Vale of Leven Rainbows, is currently working towards hers. The qualification allows the leaders to take their units on camps and overnight trips.
Despite facing personal challenges, Lynne persevered to complete her qualifications. She said: “After a difficult year, guiding was the last thing on my mind.
“However, I had fantastic support from my daughter Rachel and friend Sarah, who kept me going on my leadership course, even though they too were completing theirs.
“Our mentor, Bronach Hughes, was just amazing! A massive heartfelt thank-you to her —none of us could have done it without her!
“Having completed both my Leadership and Going Away With qualifications within the same year, with Bronach as our mentor for both, is a great achievement!”

Bronach said: “I am incredibly proud of Lynne, Rachel, and Sarah for their dedication and perseverance in achieving their qualifications despite the challenges they’ve faced this year.”
Dunbartonshire Commissioner Lorna Hamilton was also instrumental in supporting the leaders. She said: “The leaders’ commitment to ensuring the girls in their unit have fun, learn, and grow is truly inspiring. It’s been a privilege to support them on this journey, and I look forward to seeing all they will accomplish in the future with 3rd Vale of Leven Guides.”
Lynne added: “We run a very successful unit with over 40 members and very much enjoy guiding these girls. We now look forward to making many more happy memories with them!”
