Rainbows, Brownies and Guides from across Dumbarton and the Vale of Leven came together to celebrate World Thinking Day with a special joint event

The celebration at the Riverside Halls in Dumbarton Parish Church brought together girls from units across the area, giving them the chance to take part in activities and learn about guiding around the world.
World Thinking Day, celebrated annually by members of Girlguiding and the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts, encourages girls and volunteers to think about their fellow Guides and Scouts across the globe and celebrate the international movement. This year’s Thinking Day, which was themed around friendship, was a significant milestone as it marked 100 years of the celebration.
Global guiding

During the event, the girls enjoyed a variety of themed activities designed to highlight the global nature of guiding, while also having the opportunity to make new friends and work together as part of the wider guiding community.
Organisers said the event was a great success and a wonderful opportunity for girls from different units to celebrate together.
Generous donations
They also extended their thanks to local supermarkets Asda and Lidl for their generous food donations, which helped ensure everyone could enjoy refreshments during the celebrations.
They are also grateful to Catherine Stevenson for making a Thinking Day cake.

Division Commissioner Kirsteen Raeside said: “It was fantastic to see so many Rainbows, Brownies and Guides from Dumbarton and the Vale of Leven coming together to celebrate World Thinking Day. Events like this are a great way for girls to meet others from different units, take part in new activities and learn more about the global guiding community.”
Join the fun

Girlguiding units from across the area have spaces for members to join. They’re also keen to recruit more volunteers to help run the units. For more information, visit www.girlguidingdunbartonshire.org.uk
