The 12th Clydebank Guides had an unforgettable day exploring Scotland’s capital, combining learning, culture and fun.
The day began with a visit to the Scottish Parliament, where the Guides – who have their meetings at Clydebank Methodist Church – were welcomed by Marie McNair. The MSP gave the group an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour, sharing insights into the workings of Scotland’s national legislature, followed by the Parliament’s official visitor tour.
After the Parliament visit, the Guides enjoyed a scenic walk up the Royal Mile, taking in the sights and history of Edinburgh along the way. The afternoon was spent at Camera Obscura and World of Illusions, where the girls enjoyed interactive exhibits, puzzles and optical illusions.

The day concluded with a train journey back to Dalmuir, rounding off a truly memorable trip for everyone involved.
Unit leader Michelle Pearson said: “It was a fantastic experience for the Guides. From learning about Scottish politics to exploring the wonders of Camera Obscura, the day was full of fun, education, and laughter. The girls were engaged, curious, and left inspired.”
