First response, 2 evening full course, Lenzie
January 29 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm
1st Response is a basic six-hour first aid course designed specifically for members of Girlguiding and The Scout Association. It is valid for three years and gives you the basic first aid skills you need to provide first aid within guiding. This course runs over two consecutive evenings. Wednesday 21st and Thursday 22nd August, from 7pm to 10pm on each evening. You must attend both sessions to receive your 1st Response qualification.
Aims and objectives
The aim of 1st Response is to ensure Girlguiding members are kept as safe as possible while they are in our care.
The objectives are to:
Provide members with simple first aid information which is relevant to their role.
Help members build confidence and skills in coping with emergency and first aid situations.
Equip members with the knowledge needed to manage these emergencies.
Who can take 1st Response?
Priority on a 1st Response course will be given to leaders over 18 working towards their Adult Leadership qualification, and to units which do not have an adult leader with a First Response qualification. This means that other people may be placed on a waiting list if the course is oversubscribed.
1st Response can be completed by anyone aged over 14 in a volunteer role within guiding. This includes Leaders, Young Leaders, Unit Helpers and Unit Occasional Helpers. Commissioners should also attend a 1st Response course.
Rangers can attend 1st Response as part of their personal development if they wish, however, someone who is under 18, including Young Leaders, cannot be the named first aider at an event or activity.
Anyone under 18 attending the course needs to compete an information and consent form, please email firstname.lastname@example.org for a form.
