The 6th Clydebank Guides have been to Dukeshouse Wood (one of the centres that Kingswood have) many times now. We’ve always had an amazing time whilst there. It is on a full board basis and the food has always been great, all activities are run by fully qualified leaders, who spend time getting to know the girls too.
You are assigned one group leader who will be your main contact for the weekend, but you will get to meet many more as each session can have up to 3 leaders at any time. Groups are really well organised and always start each session with a shout out (girls love it).
Activities are a mixture of Team Work, Stretching yourself, and environmental activities, you get to suggest the ones that the girls would like and Kingswood works out a programme for you. It’s a very full programme and the girls are kept busy!
Dorms sleep up to 8 but they usually give you enough rooms to have a couple of spare beds in each one at any time. All bedding provided, though girls need to make their beds. The ‘teachers’ room are all en-suite with tea/coffee making facilities (and when you arrive, your bed is all made up! Towels are provided again for teacher/leaders!)
A rep can come visit your unit too, and tell you all about the centre and they provide information such as kit lists etc.
